MACHIAS The Story of Us
The Revolutionary War Reenactors of Downeast Maine continues to grow with a steady increase in the number of participants, regularly expanding their demonstrations and events schedule. They decided to document their work in hope of producing educational videos that would promote Machias and regional history. Joe McBrine has captured hundreds of hours of footage and began producing short films that feature the amazing people of Machias Valley. Joe comments "Local reenactors of all ages volunteer to narrate and play specific roles as they bring history to life for the viewers. We have filmed on ships, at the Burnham Tavern and in local homes built in the 18th century. The group even built a small colonial house on the "Rim" in East Machias just so the invading British could burn it down. Our films are being used in classrooms all across Maine. We hope to add new films each year. The series is titled MACHIAS - The Story of Us."
